I’ve concluded the obvious. Life is nothing, but a series of recurring acts of routine. Patterns of behavior. Mirrored occurrences we quickly forget have no significance at all.

Turn on the television, listen to a song, read a book, and you’ll see that whatever experience you’re having has been experienced before. Every feeling you feel has been felt by someone else. Whatever hard time you’re going through would appear miniscule to someone else’s hard time.

I think everyone needs to stop taking general experiences and perceiving them as some unique individual circumstance. These things are just “part of life” and as soon as you accept them, recognize the pattern, study the routines, you won’t be so upset when “life doesn’t go your way.”

If we had “our way” then we’d be invincible, we’d be rich, we’d be lucky, we’d be healthy, but mostly just impractical.

Below are a few things that almost undoubtably will happen to you so stop acting so fucking surprised when they do…

- One day you are going to die and there’s nothing you can do about it

- Your parents will NOT always be around to guide you

- Your heart will be broken and it has to happen, the sooner the better

- When you think you have everything figured out, just know that you DON’T

- Sometimes your good deeds will go unnoticed

- Being a “friend” is just a pretense until proven otherwise

- Happiness comes in temporary doses based on what’s “happening” in your life

- It’s extremely hard to earn someone’s trust once you’ve lost it

- Humans lie and are very, very good at it

- We all want the best for ourselves, but that realistically can’t happen for everyone

- Every choice you make will affect your life, there’s no starting over, regret is a very difficult burden to carry

I’m just trying to be realistic here. At 23, all the sugar coating is finally starting to hurt my stomach.
